Electric Vehicles and Plug-in Hybrids
The releases of the Nissan Leaf and the Chevrolet Volt, as well as the upcoming release of the Tesla Model S will make the possibility of driving all-electric powered miles a reality for a number of everyday drivers. Success of these products and others like them is vital to our push to get away from oil dependence. However, a number of challenges will need to be overcome before society can realize the complete set of benefits offered by battery powered vehicles. With aggressive policies to expand renewable electricity generation and distribution, we can put a serious dent in our oil dependence and reduce overall, full fuel cycle emissions.
